Two more people are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

The arrests come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Police arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
