An individual who contaminated sweets with sedative and gave them to youngsters at a youth camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two children who were between nine and ten.
The accused was detained after eight minors and one adult fell ill at the facility in the summer month.
The 76-year-old, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
However, he denied one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was kept in jail before a additional proceeding on late November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, detailed the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She explained his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a youth camp which he ran.
The defendant played a "candy game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel said, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to consume candy "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the defendant had played this game with the boys "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously become sick the following morning.
She stated Ruben had been able to explain this for many years as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had worries in recently.
The prosecutor stated further: "Recently" his stepchild had suspicions about the situation, with valid cause.
"They decided to have a look in the individual's items."
The prosecutor stated materials including baby oil, ointment and medical needles were discovered, and his stepson contacted the law enforcement about his concerns.
She said the man continued to conduct the "candy game" with six children that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that time," she added.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
Mrs Prior said the children were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson called the police a second time.
She said the man then conducted the "candy game" in a space of five youngsters.
