Uche Sparks Dominant Crystal Palace Victory at Shelbourne.
Even though entering their first-ever European campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Without key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a comfortable result that all but guarantees them a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another three points in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight entry to the last 16, especially after a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Grasp the Moment
This match provided a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second consecutive match.
The Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season proved outmatched against a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee injuries.

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.
Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the referee dismissed the protests.
Ex-Arsenal man didn't need to wait long to find his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's shot had struck the post.
The home side were clinging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, only to see his shot blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still scope for improvement in his game.
A solitary concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
